Royal Wedding Fever

I initially wasnt really that bothered about the Royal Wedding, like most people, I was only really interested in seeing what Kate will be wearing, Or Princess Catherine as she will soon be known.

But after watching four, yes four, programmes on weddings on Sunday I was feeling distinctly caught up.

I wont actually be doing anything tomorrow other then writing essays, I dont think my town will be having any parties, but I will probably watch most of the coverage whilst writing my assignments.

So after browsing youtube yesterday I came across one of Fleurdeforces' videos, which was a nail art tutorial, you can watch it here I thought I would give it a go!

It worked out quite well, Im rather pleased with the results, my left hand was tricker to do, as I am left handed. I think I'd try it again but maybe with different colours.

These are the colours I chose to get the look - Barry M Nail Paint in Rasberry 273, Revlon Nail Enamel which was from a french manicure set from ages ago and Barry M Nail Paint in Colbalt Blue 291.

What will you be getting up to tomorrow??

After all in years to come people are going to be asking what you were doing on April 29th 2011.....

Gifts from Japan

My lovely boyfriend has just come back from Japan, he went to for a friends wedding and spend 10 days over there.

He brought me back some lovely presents, so I thought I would share them!

  • (L-R) Geisha Girl Bookmark
  • Ceramic Metallic Pot
  • Little coin / Lipstick / ? / Purse
  • Make up bag
  • Japanese Fan
The colour of the pot hasnt really come out very well on the camera. My bedroom isnt fantastic for taking pictures unfortunately or I would have taken more individual pictures of the items. Its a cream pot with gold metallic lines. Its really pretty. My bf reckons that its used in Japan for eating and drinking from. I debated whether to put a candle in, or keep it to store my make-up brushes. Ive gone with the latter. I dont have anywhere to put my brushes in, so this will be perfect!

Has anyone ever read "memoirs of a geisha"? I love that book, Ive always found geisha girls fascinating, I would love to meet one in real life. Until then I have this bookmark and the pictures my boyfriend took! Haha.

I love this fan, I have always adored fans so I think this is probably my favourite present, again the colour of this one hasnt come out very well (complete lighting fail) the base is a light blue, and the leaf detail is a darker blue. I am already trying to decide how I could get away with using this fan in every day life. However I dont want to ruin it, so I think I could end up sticking it on my wall. It just seems such a sad existence for my beautiful fan! Any ideas???

Also I was thinking of doing a 'Jewellery of the Day' (JotD) post. Ive seen lots of people do Outfits and Faces of the day, but not Jewellery of the Day. So thought it might do something different?! Thoughts??

Hope you've had a good Easter weekend!!

Monday Must-Have

Hiya,

I have had a love for 50's style dresses since the first time I ever watched Grease. Its a bit sad but I love to twirl round in them! I think they are super flattering on just about every girl.

These types of dresses are very much in style at the moment and I have come across 2 dresses which I absolutely adore, but can in no-way afford....

Both from Laura Ashley both £100. A little bit to expensive for my purse, but my gosh, I think these dresses are divine.

My favourite is the postcard print, I am hoping they may pop up on ebay at some point in the future. But for now all I can do it stare at their prettiness from afar! I am considering going in to Laura Ashley and trying them on for fun! Is that sad?!

What are your fave trends of the moment??

Cupcakes!

Yesterday I had a day off uni for "self study" even though I have 4 assignments due in as many weeks, I decided I would bake instead.

Baking cupcakes is much more enjoyable!

I started out with these.......

Then after 15mins of baking, 30mins of cooling down, another 30mins of decorating......

Now I realise they dont look as fabulous as I'd have liked...I dont have any piping equipment for the buttercream, so I have to splodge (technical term) it on with a knife.

However I am firm believer in 'its all about the taste' and I must say they taste pretty good!!

Im going to have to be on the look out for some piping equipment, I would also love some cookie cutters too, I want to branch out into the world of biscuits and cookies. More specifically shortbread, which I adore!!

I really want to jazz up my blog, Im not quite sure how I do this, Im not very technical when it comes to the computer, Im sure it cant be that difficult though!!.......

Playsuit?!

A playsuit I'd ordered from Ebay came today, I was never really that fussed on playsuits, mainly because it seemed a hassle to get out of them when nature calls! But also because I was never really sure how to wear one, which may sound a little silly. However I have seen other girls round town and other bloggers rocking them, so i decided to buy one, if i dont like it, it can always go back on ebay!

Anyhoo, this is a picture of it....

I guess the print is feather like, it's got some really pretty gold buttons, the picture is a bit rubbish so doesnt really do it justice.

Its stretchy round the middle, which makes it easy to get in and out of it. Im not 100% sold on it yet though, Im thinking I may try it with a belt round the middle tomorrow and some accessories.

I also recieved this pretty necklace in the post yesterday, again it was bought from ebay for under £3!! An absolute bargain!
It is a lot smaller then I had expected it to be, however I still love it. I think this and my Owl necklace have to be my favourite pieces of jewellery at the moment!

As you can see in my last picture, I have finally got round to purchasing the Barry M nail effects paint. This was my first go, I didnt quite get the application right and some of my nails look a little dodgy!!

Im planning on doing some baking at the weekend, so Ill be posting some pictures of that hopefully!!

Lazy like Sunday Morning

Here I am again, sat down at my computer trying to finish off my 2000 word essay, which Im not even close to finishing, probably not helped by the beautiful weather outside and my tendancy to daydream!!!

Thought I would just post a few of pictures from the weekend so far!

First off - my two cats outside, Alice (black) Thomas (Grey)

Alice is really old, she's about 90 something in cat years and 21 in human years! She only ever goes outside when its warm!

Yesterday my boyf and I went for a trip out into the countryside, literally in the middle of no-where to a country pub where we had some lunch and then went for a little walk in the moors.

This was my boyf trying to get as close as he could to the sheep, he just ended up really scaring it and it ran away!

This is who we dubbed "pole dancing sheep" we were sat in the same spot for about 15 minutes and this sheep just kept walking round this pole. Very odd!!!

So thats my weekend so far! Today I plan on customising a couple of my brothers old t-shirts which i will post pics of when I'm done! Hopefully this afternoon me and my boyf will be heading out to the beach for a little walk to finish off this glorious sunny weekend!!

Sunny Day

Apparently its the hottest day of the year so far, Ive got a lovely spring dress on, however Im stuck firmly inside with an essay I need to write for Uni, unfortunately I have a bit fat 0 motivation.

Oh well.

Let me introduce you to one of guinea pigs - Charlie, he gets really excited when it gets close to tea time, hence this shot!

This is a present I recieved at Christmas from one of my friends and Ive only recently just got round to trying it out. I have to say, its amazing!!! I dont know the cost with it obviously been a christmas gift, its from the Boots Extracts range which is Fairtrade, yay! I think my most favourite piece is the body butter, its so thick and sooooo moisturising!
I whole heartedly recommend it!

Time to do some uni work and look out the window adoringly wishing I was out there!!

Presents from the Postman!

I absolutely love jewellery and accessories, I think they just make an outfit, a nice piece of jewellery can completely change a plain outfit into something special! Ive had a bit of a small splurge on ebay and the things I bought are slowly starting to trickle in!

I came home this afternoon and had two lovely little packages waiting for me!

First of all I opened this...

I have been wanting a lovely Owl necklace for such a long time!! This one was a bargain at £3!

I opened my next parcel and inside the envelope was this!...

I loved the little personalised message, I think it definietly adds something special.

Inside that was my cute scrabble ring, packaged up really nicely...another sweet touch!

Ill post the shop address for this one as they do some really lovely kitsch/vintage inspired jewellery, Ill definietly be buying from there again!
