Day 6 - We Belong Together

Day 6 – A photo of an animal you’d love to keep as a pet.
In my house we have 2 cats, 2 guinea pigs and about 30 tropical fish, I would love to have a little dog or a rabbit, however if I could choose ANY animal to keep as a pet it would probably be a toss up between these two...

Pictures via Google Images

Yes, both these animals are completely unrealistic to keep as a pet, but I love them both, I did see a programme once where someone was keeping a hippo as a pet, so who knows! Hehe.

Day 5 - Change

Day 5 - A photo of yourself 2 years ago.

This is a photo of moi 2 years ago during a trip out to a local muesuem, it was a fabulous morning, my then boyfriend had never been to this muesuem before so we had a lot of fun taking pictures and messing around.

Since this picture was taken I have much shorter hair, which is growing out very slowly! I gave up full time work to start a full time university degree course. I have a new baby cousin. I am sure there are a few more differences that I cant think of at the moment!

I would definitely like to think that my life has changed for the better, even if I dont always see it that way!

Day 4 - They Say We Are Young And We Dont Care

Day 4 - Favourite Photo of my Best Friend

I dont really feel very comfortable with posting personal pictures on this blog. I am very lucky to have two amazing best friends, one who I have known since I was about 4 and the other one since I was about 15.

I have had many friends who have dipped in and out my life never to be seen again, but these two have always been there for me. Through break-ups with boyfriends, arguments with family and friends, embarassing nights out and all the brilliant stuff, like getting a new job, getting into university etc.

I would not change my best friends for the world and I have no doubt that we will stay in touch throughout our lives.

Day 3 - I Got You

Day 3 – Your idea of the perfect first date.
This is a bit of tricky one, I dont really have an ideal first date, I am always a fan of the classic dinner and a movie, a nice meal with, hopefully not too much arkwardness, but other then that I dont have an ideal.

First dates in the past for me have included the above. One first date (the only date) involved an open mic evening at a pub in the town where I live, the guy who took me was a singer in a band and they used to go quite reguarly. That was something a little bit different which I really enjoyed.

As I am now single I will dread eargerly look forward to any potential first dates I have coming my way.

Day 2 - Good Times are a Comin'

Day 2 – A photo of something you ate today.

This my friends is the king of foods......

You are looking at my lunch a cheese and crisp sandwich, made lovingly by moi. The crisps went into the sandwich just before I ate it.

The crisps are pickled onion nik naks, smelly - yes, tasty - yes.

Its maybe not the most nutritious of foods but it served a purpose.

I am off out tonight 'on the town' with my two best friends. I have been looking forward to this night out for a while, so I will be spending the rest of the afternoon pampering and preening myself in preparation.

Hope you all have a lovely Saturday!

Day 1 - The Rest is Inexcusable

Day 1 - A photo of yourself and a description of your day.

Right so this is a picture of me ......

It was taken a couple of weeks ago, so it's pretty recent! I am not the most photogenic of people, so good pictures of me are hard to come by, however I quite like this one!

My day has been pretty boring to be honest. I was hoping to spend most of the day curled up on the sofa watching TV. However my brother beat me to it, so I spent this morning doing an online training course which I needed to complete in order to start my new volunteering role.

I cleaned the house (boring). Managed to grab a couple of hours in front on the TV, catching up with 'How I Met Your Mother' and 'The Big Bang Theory' both of which I love, but I do prefer 'The Big Bang Theory' I have a massive crush on Sheldon.

Finally, I plan on spending the rest of the evening, drinking a bit of wine, munching on a bit of chocolate and finding something good on the telly (or DVD) to settle down to and watch.

NOT VERY EXCITING!!!

Free Clothes!

It was my birthday on Monday and one of my presents was a £40 gift card for House of Fraser (hence the title). I am going in to town on Saturday to have a peruse of whats on offer. I did debate spending my gift card on make up, however my lust for clothes is much stronger then my lust for make-up....

So Ive had a little look online....

I really love this style of blouse and I know I would get a lot of wear out of it. I could dress it up or down with jeans or a skirt.

I am a sucker for dresses, I like how simple this one is. I think it could also be dressed up or down, it would probably depend on what type of material the dress is made out of. It could also be transistioned into winter with a black pair of tights and cardigan. This dress is also in the sale, it was £45.

Although I think this skirt looks really pretty, I would probably not get as much wear out of it as the other the top and the dress. I could only see myself wearing this in the summer and with a plain tank top.

Obviously these items of clothing may not even be in House of Fraser as the concession stands are quite limited where I live. I do think that I would be looking for a blouse similar to the one posted from Oasis as I think that they are just so versatile to wear!!

Wish me luck!

Organise My Life

Since I started college 2 years ago, I cannot live without my diary. Since I use an academic style one running from June-June, it was time to buy a new one!

       Paperchase

So I went out to Paperchase today and bought this cute little filofax. I collect so much information during the year, like names, addresses, log-in information etc, so when it comes to buying a new diary I always have to transfer all of my information which takes a long while. I figured that with a filofax that information can just stay, as I'll only be updating my diary pages each year.

Its my understanding that not many people use filo-faxes or diaries anymore due to the invention of the smartphone. I just cant live like that! I need to write things down and then being able to look back on it. Is anyone else here the same?

I personally could not get through uni without a diary!

Bit of a random post, but just thought I would share my shiny, cute new purchase!

OOTD & JOTD

Hi Hi,

Here is the outfit post I promised you last week...

Dress - Dorothy Perkins
Bag - Primark
Necklace - Swarovski
Bow Ring - Primark
Double Heart Ring - Swarovski

I have absolutely no-where decent to take pictures in my house, hence why I do not do OOTD. I apologise for the background.

These pictures where taken on Bank Holiday Monday, when it was considerably less warm then it is today, which is why I am wearing tights!

I havent really been upto much this week, got quite a busy week ahead of me, sadly nothing exciting though!!

Hope you all are making the most of the sunshine!!

Bad Blogger

Ive been a bad blogger of late, I've been so busy lately with uni work. Thankfully its all handed in now, so barring any re-submissions I may have to do (hopefully not though) I am now on my summer holidays! Unfortunately I will have to find a summer job, but Im giving myself a couple of weeks off to chill out! haha.

To celebrate the end of first year I got myself a new mobile phone!

The HTC Wildfire S in white. For the past 3 years or so I have been a Blackberry addict. My last phone was the BB Curve 8250, however I had a lot of problems with it crashing and freezing and just generally being quite unreliable, plus I fancied a change. So I was able to buy myself out of my current contract and get this one!

I've had it almost a week now and I am getting to grips with it. Its completely touchscreen, which is new experience and taking some getting used too! I do love it though, and Ive heard a lot of good things about HTC phones.

I plan on getting back into blogging and using some of my free time to try and figure out how I can get a better layout and headers on my blog. If anyone can point me in the right direction of doing this, Id be much obliged.

Ive got an outfit post I want to do for tomorrow with a new dress I bought yesterday in York. So hopefully I'll be able to get some good pictures for that!

Haul

I thought I would share with you a small haul post! 2 pieces of clothing and 2 accessories!!

As you may know if you read my blog, I like a lot of others are currently dealing with end of the academic year uni stress. I have my last assignment deadline this coming Friday, and I am finally making headway with my work! YAY!!!

So after a visit to the library this morning, I decided to pop into a couple of shops the first being New Look....

The picture doesnt do them justice - here they are on the website they look really nice on, and because I'm quite short they land just at my ankles. In real life they are kind of a camel colour. With a NUS discount they cost £11. BARGAIN!

Next I went to Primark!

And I bought this lovely crochet cardigan for £14. Picture quality is a bit rubbish....in real life its a light grey, perfect for the spring/summer!

I bought both of these accessories a couple of weeks ago...

First up is this absoutely adorable owl ring from VIPXO which was £3! She makes some lovely jewellery for great prices!!

Next up this lovely 'rosey bow' from Dainty Roses this is the 'Meredith' bow and was £4! What I like about these is that there is a wire running through the material, so you can shape it which ever way you like, which I think is pretty cool!

Ive fastened the bow underneath my hair for more of a 'polished' look!

I guess this is probably the more 'on trend' way of wearing it!!

And finally the two pieces together for a bit of a random picture! Haha!

Hope you all enjoy the rest of the week.

Work Work Work!

I feel like Ive been neglecting this blog recently. Unfortunately I am bogged down with uni work and I just started a new placement last week, so between assignment writing and placement I just want to collapse on an evening!

Last assignment hand in is on the 13th May, Ive got two assignments left to do before then, so this weekend is dedicated to that. Wish me luck!

Ive recently bought a few new accessory items from some blog shops which I want to show you. Hopefully I will be able to do that next week. I also plan on a bit of retail therapy next weekend to celebrate the academic part of first year!

Best get back to work!!!

Royal Wedding Fever

I initially wasnt really that bothered about the Royal Wedding, like most people, I was only really interested in seeing what Kate will be wearing, Or Princess Catherine as she will soon be known.

But after watching four, yes four, programmes on weddings on Sunday I was feeling distinctly caught up.

I wont actually be doing anything tomorrow other then writing essays, I dont think my town will be having any parties, but I will probably watch most of the coverage whilst writing my assignments.

So after browsing youtube yesterday I came across one of Fleurdeforces' videos, which was a nail art tutorial, you can watch it here I thought I would give it a go!

It worked out quite well, Im rather pleased with the results, my left hand was tricker to do, as I am left handed. I think I'd try it again but maybe with different colours.

These are the colours I chose to get the look - Barry M Nail Paint in Rasberry 273, Revlon Nail Enamel which was from a french manicure set from ages ago and Barry M Nail Paint in Colbalt Blue 291.

What will you be getting up to tomorrow??

After all in years to come people are going to be asking what you were doing on April 29th 2011.....

Monday 25 April 2011

Gifts from Japan

My lovely boyfriend has just come back from Japan, he went to for a friends wedding and spend 10 days over there.

He brought me back some lovely presents, so I thought I would share them!

  • (L-R) Geisha Girl Bookmark
  • Ceramic Metallic Pot
  • Little coin / Lipstick / ? / Purse
  • Make up bag
  • Japanese Fan
The colour of the pot hasnt really come out very well on the camera. My bedroom isnt fantastic for taking pictures unfortunately or I would have taken more individual pictures of the items. Its a cream pot with gold metallic lines. Its really pretty. My bf reckons that its used in Japan for eating and drinking from. I debated whether to put a candle in, or keep it to store my make-up brushes. Ive gone with the latter. I dont have anywhere to put my brushes in, so this will be perfect!

Has anyone ever read "memoirs of a geisha"? I love that book, Ive always found geisha girls fascinating, I would love to meet one in real life. Until then I have this bookmark and the pictures my boyfriend took! Haha.

I love this fan, I have always adored fans so I think this is probably my favourite present, again the colour of this one hasnt come out very well (complete lighting fail) the base is a light blue, and the leaf detail is a darker blue. I am already trying to decide how I could get away with using this fan in every day life. However I dont want to ruin it, so I think I could end up sticking it on my wall. It just seems such a sad existence for my beautiful fan! Any ideas???

Also I was thinking of doing a 'Jewellery of the Day' (JotD) post. Ive seen lots of people do Outfits and Faces of the day, but not Jewellery of the Day. So thought it might do something different?! Thoughts??

Hope you've had a good Easter weekend!!

New Love

Happy Easter weekend! Hope your all having a lovely time in the sunshine, and eat plenty of chocolate!! This is a pic of my little easter egg haul, heh, I am thinking of breaking into one of them tonight!

A few days ago I ordered a new bag. Bags are probably one of my biggest weaknesses when it comes to accessories. Today it arrived!! :-D

Its a grey "alexa mulberry" style bag. Im sure your all familar with them, love or loathe. Its from Bank Fashion. I dont normally even look in this shop. But for whatever reason I logged onto their online store and saw this!
As
Its from a little concession shop called "Cheeky Budha" I think its available on ASOS too.

Its got three big compartments. Perfect for when i go back to uni, but more recently perfect for my placement in a couple of weeks.

I thought i would take a quick photo of whats in my new bag! I love watching these types of videos on Youtube, Im a really nosy person!

  • (L-R) Superdrug 'Hand Therapy' for dry/sensitive skin
  • Accessorise Purse
  • Blackberry
  • Barry M '101' Lipstick
  • 2010/2011 Diary / Betty Boop Pen
  • Accessorise make up bag
  • Ipod touch and Lady GaGa Headphones
  • Superdrug 'Little Blue Tin'
  • Pack of Mints
  • Pocket Mirror
  • Next 'Blossom' Perfume

Monday Must-Have

Hiya,

I have had a love for 50's style dresses since the first time I ever watched Grease. Its a bit sad but I love to twirl round in them! I think they are super flattering on just about every girl.

These types of dresses are very much in style at the moment and I have come across 2 dresses which I absolutely adore, but can in no-way afford....

Both from Laura Ashley both £100. A little bit to expensive for my purse, but my gosh, I think these dresses are divine.

My favourite is the postcard print, I am hoping they may pop up on ebay at some point in the future. But for now all I can do it stare at their prettiness from afar! I am considering going in to Laura Ashley and trying them on for fun! Is that sad?!

What are your fave trends of the moment??

Cupcakes!

Yesterday I had a day off uni for "self study" even though I have 4 assignments due in as many weeks, I decided I would bake instead.

Baking cupcakes is much more enjoyable!

I started out with these.......

Then after 15mins of baking, 30mins of cooling down, another 30mins of decorating......

Now I realise they dont look as fabulous as I'd have liked...I dont have any piping equipment for the buttercream, so I have to splodge (technical term) it on with a knife.

However I am firm believer in 'its all about the taste' and I must say they taste pretty good!!

Im going to have to be on the look out for some piping equipment, I would also love some cookie cutters too, I want to branch out into the world of biscuits and cookies. More specifically shortbread, which I adore!!

I really want to jazz up my blog, Im not quite sure how I do this, Im not very technical when it comes to the computer, Im sure it cant be that difficult though!!.......

Playsuit?!

A playsuit I'd ordered from Ebay came today, I was never really that fussed on playsuits, mainly because it seemed a hassle to get out of them when nature calls! But also because I was never really sure how to wear one, which may sound a little silly. However I have seen other girls round town and other bloggers rocking them, so i decided to buy one, if i dont like it, it can always go back on ebay!

Anyhoo, this is a picture of it....

I guess the print is feather like, it's got some really pretty gold buttons, the picture is a bit rubbish so doesnt really do it justice.

Its stretchy round the middle, which makes it easy to get in and out of it. Im not 100% sold on it yet though, Im thinking I may try it with a belt round the middle tomorrow and some accessories.

I also recieved this pretty necklace in the post yesterday, again it was bought from ebay for under £3!! An absolute bargain!
It is a lot smaller then I had expected it to be, however I still love it. I think this and my Owl necklace have to be my favourite pieces of jewellery at the moment!

As you can see in my last picture, I have finally got round to purchasing the Barry M nail effects paint. This was my first go, I didnt quite get the application right and some of my nails look a little dodgy!!

Im planning on doing some baking at the weekend, so Ill be posting some pictures of that hopefully!!
